Our Story
Lavinia graduated from the University of Plymouth as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (1996) and Counsellor (1998). She gained a Masters in Professional Practice (Emotional Problem Solving) in 2012 from the University of Surrey, and is currently studying a Doctorate in Mental Health at Bangor University. In 2006, Lavinia designed a model of care called “Emotional Problem Solving” which is a combination of talking therapies utilised in a way best suited to the clients needs. This is because not everyone is happy to work purely with Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), which is a tool or talking therapy which is used as a treatment for anxiety the NHS will only use. We often support and work with neurodivergent individuals including autism, ADHD and PDA or those supporting and working with those individuals and CBT in the form of talking therapy alone is not always best for neurodivergent individuals and this is where a more adaptive, blended and considered around the use of different approaches is most beneficial and exactly what EPS offers for the individuals we work with and those professionals we work with to support individuals. EPS talking therapy is designed to reduce negative mental health symptoms, boost self-esteem, and build resilience.
