1st Responders

(Emergency Call Handlers, Ambulance, Fire Service, Police)

Trauma and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a big challenge but even more so if you are working with known neurodivergent individuals, but it is even harder if they are unaware they might be neurodivergent and yet reacting with significant anxiety and distress. Many professionals state there is insufficient training or access to modules on both mental health and neurodivergent types and are concerned at not being as equipped as they feel they should or could be. Likewise, many neurodivergent individuals suffer at the hands of well meaning professionals and would appreciate 1st responders being able to consider and support their needs with the minimum of knowledge and competence. There is the added consideration that professionals who themselves are knowingly or unknowingly neurodivergent may well be triggered with sensory impact from the environment they are working in, or the people they are trying to support, or the demands placed on them can be overwhelming and anxiety provoking impacting negatively on their ability to do their job efficiently and effectively.
